The purpose of this EEO Public File Report is to comply with Section 73.2080() (6) of the FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule. This report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment Unit that is comprised of the following stations: WMKX-FM, Brookville, Pennsylvania, and WJNG-FM, Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania, and is required to be placed in the public inspection files of these stations.

 

The information contained in this report covers the time period beginning April 1, 2016 to and including March 31, 2017.

E. Outreach Activities

 

Bruce A. McMurray Memorial Scholarship Award (April 30, 2016)

 

Each year, Mega Rock awards the Bruce A. McMurray Memorial Scholarship. The $500 prize is given to a high school senior who plans to attend college and major in communication or a related field. The 18th Bruce A. McMurray Memorial Scholarship was awarded on April 30, 2016, bringing Mega Rock’s scholarship total throughout the years to $9000.

 

Brookville Area High School Job Shadowing (September 2016-March 2017)

 

Mega Rock offered an enthusiastic high school student extensive exposure of radio broadcasting, not only in the on-air studio, but on remote sports broadcasts as well. The student worked with our morning drive talent on all aspects of radio broadcasting, including writing, recording and editing public service announcements, recording weekly high school sports recaps, and learning about radio sales and sponsorships. 

 

Meantime, the student assisted Mega Rock’s high school wrestling announcers during remote broadcasts of wrestling matches. The student’s responsibilities included collecting team rosters and statistics, assisting with equipment and computer setups, and going on-air as a color commentator.
